The Wren

These chunky, fidgeting birds can be easily recognized from their  deep brown colouring, and dark stripes on their upper sides. Their under body is a paler brown with grey stripes. They also have a short upright  tail which is repeatedly twitching, a yellow eyebrow, as well as a brown bill and legs. The young birds are similar to the adults although their eyebrows will not be as prominent until they get their full adult plumage.
These little birds  feed on spiders and any insects they find as they walk along on the ground. They walk along probing in cracks and crevices with their long brown bill. Generally

The Wren

The male wren will build several globe shaped nests from moss, which he will build in walls, trees or even earthen banks. When the female has decided on which nest she prefers she will line it with feathers. They will also use bird nesting boxes, either for roosting in the winter or for nesting. They will normally breed two to three times a year, and have a clutch of five to six white eggs which have either red or brown spots.
The Wren may be small in stature but it has an amazingly loud voice, and the chances are that you will hear its song in spring and summer, early in the morning.
