Tall Planter-

The High Ercall

The High Ercall is a 'tall planter'. This handsome wooden planter looks good next to a door planted with a topiary plant or a more informal display. No bending to tend or admire your  plants with this tall planter. The planter pictured here is constructed from Scandinavian red pine. The corner timbers of these planters are 75mm square with 50mm cross timbers. The sides of the planter are then in-filled with 25mm thick  planks. The bottom of the planter is slatted to allow drainage and the whole planter is hand rubbed to finish. The internal walls of these planters are now painted with a waterproof  paint sealant.

Gardening with Planters.

Planter gardening  is so satisfying to gardeners, because the plants are seen close up, so they  have the incentive to nurture and cultivate them to a high standard. And because of the portable and contained nature of the plantings, it allows us to grow plants in our gardens that might otherwise be impossible to cultivate because of unsuitable soil or climatic conditions. Planter gardening can also satisfy the artist within us allowing us to use our imaginations the freedom to combine plants of all colours, shapes and textures, and to match the plants to the planter, and then place the planter  where it benefits the garden most.
It is this combination of the practical and the aesthetic that makes planter gardening a most exciting and versatile form of gardening. No matter

grow plants and flowers in an area where no soil exists, on a balcony or terrace for example. Bearing in mind that it can honestly be said that any plant can be grown in a planter, the almost unlimited range of plants in the planter  gardener’s palette could be considered daunting. Or you could see it as an opportunity to explore and experiment with any number of combinations of colour and texture; a chance to mix the soft with the hard, the bright with the subdued. This diversity of plant material means that every taste and style can be catered for from the tightest, formal look to the wildest, informal display.  Whether you wish to make a statement or simply want some planters  that look pretty on the patio.  There are planters and plants available to do it with, and to do it with in style.
